What’s on our calendar in 2026?

Holidays

While it’s not always possible, we aim to keep Saturday’s free for family, and rest.

  • ⁠Public school holidays: We close most of our ministries down during the public school holidays.
  • Public holidays: We close most of our ministries down on public holidays.
  • Religious holidays: We observe a number of religious celebrations, including, Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Resurrection Sunday, Ascension Day, Pentecost, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
  • Cultural holidays: We observe a number of cultural celebrations, including, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Reformation Sunday.

Teaching

  • Bible study leaders meeting: At the beginning of the year, before the Bible study launch, after the morning service, the pastor speaks to the Bible study leaders to tell them about available material and other information that we want to drive through small group Bible studies.
  • ⁠Bible study launch: At the beginning of the year, before the various Bible Studies start up again, during the morning service, after the notices, each Bible Study leader is given a minute to introduce their Bible Study to the church. After the service sign up sheets are available for members and attendees to get connected to mid week small group Bible studies.
  • Bible studies: We have a number of church Bible studies, some weekly, some monthly:
    • Monday ladies Bible study on Zoom.
    • The Boksburg Bible study. TBC
    • Wednesday Bible study.
    • Marriage enrichment. TBC
    • Parenting. TBC
    • Thursday ladies Bible study.
    • Saint over Sixty.
    • Young adults. TBC
    • Youth. TBC
    • Once a month Saturday mens Bible study.
    • Once a month Saturday ladies Bible study.
  • Sunday school: Sunday school, for children grade 7 and below/12 and below, happens during the sermon. Sunday school is closed during public school holidays. Sunday school remains for the whole service on communion Sundays, the first Sunday of the month.
  • Sunday school teachers meeting: Sunday school teachers meetings happen at the end of each term.
  • Marriage conference: There is a marriage conference planned in March.
  • Parenting conference: There is a parenting conference planned in October.
  • Godly Young Men camp: Boy 8-15, in partnership with other churches. TBC
  • Godly Young Maidens camp: Girls 8-15, in partnership with other churches. TBC

Worship

  • Worship practice: The worship team, together with the tech teams, comes together to practice on a Thursday evening at 7:00pm. The worship team, together with the tech teams, comes together to practice on a Sunday morning at 8:00am.
  • Worship run through: All the various ministries come together to talk through the order of service at 9:00am.
  • Morning service: Our Sunday morning service runs from 9:30-11:00am.
  • Evening service: Our Sunday evening service runs on the last Sunday of the month from 6:00-7:15pm.
  • Prayer focus: At the beginning of the year we have a dedicated time of prayer focusing on ministries for the year to come.
  • Sunday prayer meeting on Zoom: We pray for pressing issues facing our congregation and rotate through matters like the salvation of souls in our city, our country, missions and the extension of God’s kingdom, and the salvation of unsaved friends and family.
  • Friday ladies prayer meeting on Zoom: A group of ladies get together to pray for the salvation of the lost.
  • Communion service: Our communion service runs on the first Sunday of the morning from 9:30-11:00am.
  • Good Friday service: Planned for Good Friday.
  • Sunday rise service: Planned for Resurrection Sunday.
  • Resurrection Sunday: Planned for Resurrection Sunday.
  • Ascension Day service: Planned on Ascension Day.
  • Pentecost Sunday: Planned for Pentecost Sunday.
  • Christmas Eve carol service: Planned for Christmas Eve, 5:00pm.
  • Christmas Day: Planned for Christmas Day, 8:00am.

Fellowship

  • Annual general meeting: We hold an annual general meeting in September.
  • Quarterly general meetings: We hold quarterly general meetings in February, May, and November.
  • Pizza with the pastor: We kick off our GetConnected process with a pizza with the pastor event on a Sunday, after the morning service.
  • Membership classes: Membership classes run for 4 weeks, with a 5th week for baptismal candidates. TBC
  • Membership interviews: Member interviews are conducted after a Sunday morning service. TBC
  • Bring and share: Bring and shares after the evening services. TBC
  • Potjiekos competition: Ministry teams and Bible studies. TBC
  • Spring braai: Connected to Spring clean.
  • Christmas lunch: End of year celebration. TBC
  • Maintenance: We have a monthly maintenance day schedule. TBC
  • Ladies connect over coffee: Life group that gets together to talk about life and faith. TBC
  • Crafters: Life group that crafts to support missionaries.

Evangelism

  • Outreach to Fairleads Retirement Village. TBC
  • Outreach to Rynpark: This is an open communion service for believers from Rynpark and other local retirement homes.
  • Outreach to The Old People’s Home: On the first Sunday of every month we conduct a service at The Old People’s Home between 2:00-3:30pm.
  • Evangelism week: A week of training, and evangelism before Easter Sunday. TBC
  • Holiday Bible Club: We’re planning a Holiday Bible Club during the second week of the June/July holidays. TBC
  • Christmas Eve service: Choir and nativity on 24 December, 5:00pm.
  • Missions conference: Aimed at pastors of the Baptist Northern Association, and our members. TBC

Leadership

  • Vision 2026: In January the elders, together with the deacons and ministry team leaders, spend time focused on our mission and vision.
  • Executive meetings: The elders, together with the deacons, meet once a month, on the third Thursday of the month.
  • Elders meetings: The elders meet every second week, alternating between an oversight meeting and a shepherding meeting.
  • Baptist Northern Association Eastrand fraternal: Meets on the last Friday of each month.
  • Expositors forum: Quarterly meetings of like minded church leaders focused on preaching.
  • African Revitalization Center retreat: The African Revitalization Centre serves in the training of pastors, the strengthening of churches, and the printing of Christian literature through ARC Press. The fraternal happens at the end of November, beginning of December. TBC
  • Spurgeon fraternal: The Spurgeon Fraternal happens in October. TBC
  • Charles Simeon Trust workshop: The purpose of the Workshops is to increase each participant’s confidence and ability in rightly handling God’s Word. We want each person to leave convinced that God’s Word is powerful and eager to teach it to their people.
  • Becoming a Biblical Leader: We have Bible training for church leadership aimed at woman (on a Saturday morning TBC), and men (on Wednesday evenings).

  1. Please could we consider moving the Carols to an earlier date ? This is one event that we can invite non believer family and friends and they normally will agree to attend but christmas eve is family time in general for many ? Very sad not to be able to attend this year .

    1. Thanks for the input Jenny. And we’ll certainly be giving our Christmas program for 2026 a lot of thought. We definitely want it to be an evangelistic opportunity for our members to invite family and friends.
