Why so many people rocked up this Christmas

Here’s a report back on our Christmas services. Christmas Eve was a smash hit. We had 254 souls in the building. Many of those present were family and friends. You invited them, and they came. I estimate 60% of the congregation were first-time guests. On Christmas morning, we gathered again. 168 souls in the building. Many of whom had not attended the night before. Different faces. New stories. Fresh conversations. It was a reminder that Christmas remains a clear moment for the gospel. A compelling time for our culture. Christ continues to draw people. And He uses His church to do His work in the world.

On Sunday, 28 December, and Sunday, 4 January, I met people who returned after visiting us on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Praise the Lord! What can we learn? First, when you are excited about the church you attend, and you invite your family and friends, they say yes. And they come. Second, people who are invited by someone they know are more likely to return a second time. And far more likely to come into fellowship with us over time. The sticky factor is not polish, program, or personality. It is God working through you. Your invite matters more than you realise.

Christmas has come and gone. But you can still make a difference. Please take a moment to write a Google review of Benoni Baptist Church. Have you written one already? Thank you. Did your family or friends have a good experience over Christmas? Be cheeky and ask them to write one too. Reviews help people find us. They help first-time guests take a step. They help remove unnecessary barriers. They help us reach Benoni with the gospel. You can leave a review by clicking here: https://g.page/r/CfO-1wqMQR3wEAE/review.

  1. Hi Pastor Mark, I thoroughly enjoyed the Carol’s on Christmas eve and sang my heart ❤️ out, so much so that I was slightly hoarse on Christmas morning.
I invited a family from Boatlake Village but unfortunately they did not come but I will continue to invite them and God Willing they will come to one of our services as I know they don’t attend church.
Thank you for all that you are doing
May God continue to bless you and your family

    1. It’s really exciting to see how we’re all mobilised in this work together Lita. God’s been good to join us to this work. To Himself. To one another.
