This list is not definitive. But it is indicative of the kinds of preaching we hold in high regard at Benoni Baptist Church. We commend them to our members for further listening.
The preaching ministry of John MacArthur

John MacArthur preaching.
John is an American pastor, author and radio personality. His ministry is published online through Grace to You. He pastors Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California, since February 9, 1969. He is chancellor emeritus of The Master’s University and The Master’s Seminary. MacArthur is a Reformed Protestant and a strong proponent of expository preaching.
Benoni Baptist Church has strong ties with Christ Seminary. Christ Seminary is part of The Master’s Academy International. Over years we have supported men who pursued their theological training at Christ Seminary, such as Lance Long, and Evans Odhiambo. Our pastor, Mark Penrith, was invited to visit Grace Community Church in 2025 and attend The Shepherds Conference. Mark attends annual retreats with the Africa Revitalization Centre. Benoni Baptist Church is a listed church on The Master’s Fellowship.

The Preaching Ministry of Mark Dever

Mark is the senior pastor of the Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. He is president of 9Marks, a Christian ministry he co-founded “in an effort to build biblically faithful churches in America.” He is known as a Calvinist preacher.
Our pastor, Mark Penrith, attended a 9Marks International Intensive in 2019.

The preaching ministry of Conrad Mbewe

Conrad Mbewe preaching.
Conrad pastored Kabwata Baptist Church, Lusaka, Zambia for nearly three decades. He has a PhD in Missions and is Chancellor of African Christian University, Zambia. He is also a prolific itinerant preacher who has ministered globally. Conrad has a passion for writing be it his books, blog or as a national weekly columnist.
Our pastor, Mark Penrith, was invited to visit Kabwata Baptist Church and stay with the Mbewe’s in 2018.

John Piper Preaching
John Stephen (I bet you didn’t know that) Piper is a theologian and pastor. He is the founder of desiringgod.org, and chancellor of Bethlehem College & Seminary. He served as pastor for Preaching and Vision of Bethlehem Baptist Church for 33 years. He is a prolific writer.

The exhortation ministry of Paul Washer

Paul David Washer (born 1961) is an American Protestant Christian evangelist with a Calvinist theology affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. In 1988, while in Peru, Washer founded the HeartCry Missionary Society to support indigenous missionaries witnessing to people of their own culture.
“Brother” Paul has had a large influence on the reformed movement in South Africa. His “Shocking Message” continues to create curiosity in reformed teaching and has been the catalyst for many visitors at Benoni Baptist Church.

The apologetic ministry of Voddie Baucham

Voddie Baucham is a husband, father, former pastor, author, professor, conference speaker, and church planter. He currently serves as Dean of Theology at African Christian University in Lusaka, Zambia. Dr. Baucham holds degrees from Houston Baptist University (BA in Christianity/BA in Sociology), Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div.), Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (D.Min.), an honorary degree from Southern California Seminary (D.D.), and additional post-graduate study at the University of Oxford, England (Regent’s Park College). Voddie and his wife, Bridget have been married since 1989. They have nine children: Jasmine, Trey (Voddie, III), Elijah, Asher, Judah, Micah, Safya, Amos, and Simeon.

The teaching ministry of R.C. Sproul

Robert Charles Sproul was an American Reformed theologian and ordained pastor in the Presbyterian Church in America. He was the founder and chairman of Ligonier Ministries. Sproul was a chief architect of the 1978 Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy. Sproul has been described as “the greatest and most influential proponent of the recovery of Reformed theology in the last century.”
