Motion video during the sermon

Please ensure that the movement of the slide selected during the sermon is minimal. It doesn’t have to be a still photo, but it should be a distraction.

Sound desk

When you hear feedback, and there is only one person speaking

When you hear feedback, and there is only one person speaking (notices, call to worship, pastoral prayer, Scripture reading, communion, sermon), it may be that the monitors are on. Turn the monitor off. The problem should immediately go away.

Sound check the preacher

Please give the preacher the mic pack, and do a sound check with him, straight after the run through.

Positioning the preachers lav mic

The right placement of a lavalier microphone makes all the difference in capturing clear and consistent audio. Aim for a sweet spot about six to eight inches below the speaker’s chin. This placement offers a natural balance of voice projection and minimal interference from breathing or clothing rustle. Securing the mic on the center line of the subject’s body to ensure uniform sound if they turn their head.

Please make sure that you test the mic position before the service to ensure that it picks up the desired sound levels and quality.

Streaming desk

Listen to the service with the headset on when possible

Please do listen to the service with the headset on when possible. We didn’t have sound during the notices, and at the beginning of the pastoral prayers. One of the ways we can pick up a problem early is when you’re listen in and can give the sound desk operator a kick on the shins (metaphorically speaking).

Schedule a stream

To go live:

  1. Click on the short cut to YouTube creator studio.
  2. From the icons on the left hand side navigation bar, select Manage.
  3. Click on Schedule stream.
  4. Click on Create new.
  5. In the Create stream, Details window:
    1. Type in the Title
    2. Leave the Description blank
    3. How do you want to go live? Select Streaming software.
    4. Change the Category to Nonprofits & Activism
    5. Upload the Thumbnail
    6. Select appropriate Playlists
    7. Select No, it’s not made for kids for the Audience
    8. Click Next
  6. In the Create stream, Customisation window:
    1. Live Chat, deselect Live chat and Live chat replay
    2. Click Next
  7. In the Create stream, Visibility window:
    1. Select Visibility, Public.
    2. THIS IS IMPORTANT! Select the correct date and time on Schedule.
    3. Click Done
  8. Go live on the ATEM.
  9. Click Go Live on the YouTube creator studio

To end the stream:

  1. Click End Stream on the YouTube creator studio
  2. Click off on the ATEM.
