Jesus: God’s Final and Full Word

Wednesday, November 12’s devotional.

Long ago God spoke. That is how Andre began. He read Hebrews 1:1–2 and reminded us that “long ago, God spoke to our ancestors by the prophets at different times and in different ways.” But he did not stop there. He lifted our eyes. He pressed the final line home. “In these last days, he has spoken to us by his Son.” This is the turning point of revelation. The Old Testament looked forward. The New Testament unveils the fulfilment. Jesus is not simply another messenger. He is God’s final and full Word.

The Old Testament echoes with promise. Every feast. Every sacrifice. Every prophet. Every king. Shadows pointing forward, waiting for substance. Jesus steps into history and the shadows give way to light. To know Christ is to know God. Andre said, “To see Jesus is to see the very face of God.” Scripture agrees. Jesus said, “The one who has seen me has seen the Father” (John 14:9). Hebrews says, “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact expression of his nature.” The message could not be clearer. You do not truly understand Scripture unless you see Christ at its centre.

This means the Bible is not a collection of moral lessons. It is the unfolding revelation of God’s Son. From Genesis to Revelation, Christ stands supreme. Andre reminded us that Jesus “surpasses the angels, surpasses Moses, surpasses the priests.” He is not pointing us to truth. He is the Truth. He is not simply revealing God’s Word. He is the Word made flesh. “Unless you have Jesus, you have nothing,” Andre said. That is not arrogance. That is grace. God has spoken. Fully. Finally. Completely. In Christ.

So here is the invitation. Open the Old Testament and look again. See Christ in the Passover Lamb. See Christ in the promises to David. See Christ in the suffering servant of Isaiah. Ask, “How does this passage point to Jesus?” Let Scripture ignite worship. Let the Word of God lead you to the Son of God. For Scripture says, “There is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). Jesus is the message. Jesus is the meaning. Jesus is the final Word.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for speaking. Thank You for revealing Yourself fully and finally in Jesus Christ. Open my eyes to see Him on every page of Scripture. Give me a greater hunger to know Him and a deeper love to follow Him. Guard my heart from treating Your Word lightly. Help me treasure Jesus as Your final Word… and my only hope. Amen.
