Justified by the Servant

9 April 2025

“By his knowledge, my righteous servant will justify many, and he will carry their iniquities” (Isaiah 53:11, CSB). Mark Penrith brought us into the courtroom. He said, “He does not merely forgive. He declares righteous.” That is the heart of justification. Not less guilty. Not improved. Declared righteous. The Judge speaks, and the verdict stands. The Servant makes this possible. He carries sin. He secures righteousness.

Mark made the exchange clear. “The Judge looks at you. Guilty. Then He looks at the Servant. Innocent. The Judge swaps your record for His.” This is not symbolic. This is legal. This is final. Your guilt is transferred. His righteousness is given. “That is justification. That is knowledge. That is love.” The Servant does not cover sin for a moment. He removes it. He replaces your record with His own. This is the gospel applied.

But guilt still speaks. It rises in quiet moments. It accuses. It condemns. Mark exposed this struggle. “You know the guilt. It rises at night. It whispers your failures.” So what must you do? Speak truth back. Not feelings. Not excuses. Truth. “My guilt is fully paid. Not partially. Not hopefully. Fully.” Say it until your heart follows. Say it until the accusation loses its power. The verdict of heaven outweighs the voice of guilt.

Then move forward. Do not stay stuck. Do not punish yourself. Mark urged us, “Stop living like an orphan.” You are not trying to earn acceptance. You have it. You are not waiting for approval. You possess it in Christ. “Your record, clean. Your Judge, satisfied.” So walk in freedom. Work from acceptance. Lead from security. Live as a justified man.

Bring this into your home. When your child fails, do not ignore sin. Address it clearly. But do not stop there. Point to grace quickly. Remind them of Christ. Remind them of forgiveness. Model the gospel. Mark said, “He carries their iniquities.” Let your children see both truth and grace. Firm correction. Quick restoration.

Now answer honestly. What voice do you listen to more, your guilt, or God’s declaration? One accuses. One justifies. One binds. One frees. Choose which voice will shape your day.

Lord, when guilt speaks, help me answer with truth. Remind me that my guilt is fully paid. Teach me to live in the freedom of justification. Amen.
