Every Sunday is important. But this Sunday holds significance for us as a congregation for two reasons. Let me tell you why.
First, we will witness eight individuals committing themselves to our congregation by signing our covenant of membership. Kelly, Ethan, Frances, Alwyn, Heidi, Paul, Allan, and Lorraine, welcome. We’re so glad that you’re part of us. Even as they commit to us, we commit to them. Do pray for them as they take this significant step of fellowship.
If you’re a member at Benoni Baptist Church I want to remind you that you have access to our directory of members. This is a valuable resource for staying connected, and knowing who’s who. You can use it to update your own details. Including your photo, address, and contact information. This helps us take better care of one another. Here’s the link: https://benonibaptistchurch.churchcenter.com/directory/people.
Second, this Sunday, we will gather for communion. As a church, we practice a close table, which means:
- Communion is open to all who have placed their faith in Jesus and are in good standing with their local church.
- If you have not placed your faith in Jesus, we ask that you let the elements pass by as you reflect on the gift of salvation.
- Members are to exercise authority over their believing children during this sacred time. Parents, if your children aren’t ready for baptism, they aren’t ready for communion either.
As we prepare our hearts for Sunday, I encourage you to reflect on the unity we share in Christ. Let us come to the table with humility and gratitude. And be ready to make public proclamation of the Lord’s death until He comes again.
