Our evening service is this Sunday, 29 June, at 7:00pm in the fellowship hall. These once-a-month gatherings are a valuable time of learning and worship. I’ll continue our series on the elements of our worship service. This week, we’ll look at seeing the Word through the ordinance of baptism. I know it’s dark. And cold. But I assure you, it’ll be worth it.
I have encouraging news. We’ve been praying that the Lord would raise up a maintenance ministry team lead. Leon van Staden has stepped forward, and the elders have appointed him to the role. We remain grateful to Clinton Bester, who served as deacon in this area. Maintenance matters. It supports ministry. It makes things work. Here’s a new request. Please pray that the Lord would raise up a missions team lead. Someone to stay in contact with the four missionaries and two pastoral interns our church supports. Someone to oversee the missions table in the lobby once a month. Someone to help steward the budget. Someone to plan a short-term trip each year. Speaking of elders, if you’ve ever wondered how to engage with us, know this: you’re welcome to join the first part of any elders’ meeting. We meet every second Thursday at 3:30pm in my study. Now to a big one—we need to talk about our second service. We said we’d consider launching a second service once we reached 70% capacity in our main hall for two Sundays in a row. That’s about 230 people. For June, we’re averaging over 200. We’re getting close. Please pray for wisdom as we consider this together. And let us know if you have feedback or ideas.
Lastly, we need members to serve. As the church grows, so do our minitries. We need 5 Sunday school teachers. We need 10 door greeters. We need 10 stewards.
