Live Like a Man Marked by the King

30 May 2026

Many Christians think of salvation only in terms of rescue. Forgiven. Secure. Safe. And all of that is gloriously true. But God never seals His people so that they can drift into comfort and passivity. He marks them for purpose. Mark Penrith says, “You have been sealed. Not for passivity, but for faithful stewardship until He returns.” The Lord did not save you merely to sit and wait. He saved you to live as a man marked by the King.

Haggai 2:23 says, “I will take you, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, my servant… and make you like my signet ring, for I have chosen you.” The signet ring carried authority. It represented the king himself. Mark explains, “To possess the signet ring was to act with the king’s full authority.” The promise pointed beyond Zerubbabel to Jesus Christ, the true King. Through Him, believers bear the King’s name before a watching world. We represent His kingdom wherever He places us. At work. At home. In our neighbourhoods. In ordinary conversations.

That changes how we see daily life. News headlines can create anxiety. Cultural shifts can unsettle us. The future can feel uncertain. Yet Mark reminds us, “The chaos that terrifies the world does not threaten your security.” Why? Because the King has already won. Jesus says in Matthew 28:18, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.” Then He gives His people a mission. “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations.” We are not waiting nervously for victory to arrive. We live from Christ’s finished victory.

Mark presses this truth home with simple force. “The King has chosen you. He has saved you. He has sealed you.” Then he adds, “So serve with boldness. Endure with hope.” That means your faithfulness matters. Your quiet obedience matters. Your witness at work matters. Your leadership at home matters. Christ has authorised you to live as His representative.

Choose one intentional act of gospel faithfulness this week. Pray with your wife. Begin family worship. Invite a colleague to church. Encourage someone in your church family. Keep it simple. Keep it concrete.

Gather your family tonight and remind them, “In this house we belong to King Jesus.” Then pray for courage to live like His people.

If you truly belong to the King, where is He calling you to live more boldly this week?

Prayer: Father, help us live boldly as people marked by Christ and faithful to His kingdom. Amen.
