Our roadmap
Welcome. When travelling, it is good to know the route. Our roadmap explains how the membership journey will unfold at Benoni Baptist Church. Over the next five weeks, we will introduce you to our church and prepare you for an interview.
Week 1: What is the gospel?
We want to make sure you know the gospel. And have personally accepted it. And so we present the gospel, consider Paul’s testimony, and apply it to our own story.
Week 2: Who are we?
We want you to know all about us upfront. And so we tell you about our mission, vision, and values. And our leaders, ministries, and missionaries.
Week 3: What do we believe?
We want you to know what we teach. And so we explain our statement of belief which is a written summary of biblical truth.
Week 4: What do we do?
We want you to know the responsibilities members pledge to honour. And so we work through our covenant.
Week 5: What is baptism?
Baptism is necessary for church membership. And so we investigate baptism in God’s word.
Next step
You then fill in a member application form.
Membership interview
We arrange a conversation with two church members. We hold to regenerate church membership. And so we want to hear your salvation testimony. And ask questions about how you’ve spiritually matured.
Next
Our executive approves qualified candidates.
Then
If necessary, we baptise candidates at a Sunday service.
Finally
We welcome new members at a Sunday service where they sign our church covenant.
