Sunday prayer meeting notes

Prayer meeting

Welcome and opening scripture (5 minutes)

This morning we heard this truth: Because God is for you, no accusation stands against you, no condemnation terrifies you, and no suffering can separate you from His love. So tonight, we come to pray like people who are secure. People who are confident. People who are loved.

Romans 8:31-32, What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He did not even spare his own Son but gave him up for us all. How will he not also with him grant us everything?

Opening prayer: Thank God for His Son. Thank Him that we are secure. Ask Him to hear our prayers tonight.

Confident prayer for the church (10 minutes)

God is for His church. He will not forsake His people.

Pray for:

  • Dunnottar Baptist Church: restoration, health, and wisdom as we guide them.
  • New members and teachers: K P, Sunday school team, new ministry leaders (D G, T vS).
  • Church discipline: Pray for repentance, restoration, and gospel clarity.

A few short, specific prayers.

Prayer for members in need (10 minutes)

When condemnation shouts, when suffering overwhelms, we say: Nothing can separate us from His love. Not cancer. Not grief. Not weakness.

Pray for:

  • Those with cancer: D & B B, L V, E T.
  • Those recovering: M B, L & I A, I vdS, J T, H O.
  • Confidential or ongoing needs: R M, C M, D P, C & M J, T N, M S, R D, M & T G.

Scripture reminder: God Himself declares them righteous (Romans 8:33).

Praying for families & adherents (5 minutes)

We trust Christ with those we love. He gave His Son, He will not now abandon them.

Pray for:

  • N B, T, D B.

One or two volunteers may pray aloud.

Prayer for missionaries (10 minutes)

Nothing separates them from His love—not distance, not opposition, not difficulty. So we pray boldly.

Pray for:

  • F: Praise for the Rohingya Bible, pray for B’s recovery, J’s travel.
  • H & L: Growth, care for ageing family.
  • K & C: Government issues, Yao translation.
  • P R: Strength and fruit in Durban.

Invite three people to pray for one missionary family each.

Open prayer time (3-4 minutes)

Is there a situation where you need to remember this truth—God is for me? Pray it. Declare it. Trust Him with it.

Closing (2 minutes)

Romans 8:38-39, For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, angels nor rulers… will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Close in prayer: Ask God to make us people who live as secure children, who love, serve, and pray with confidence.
