God is growing His church. Praise His wonderful Name! A few weeks ago, I asked you to invite your friends and family. And you have. They are coming. Every Sunday I see new faces in the room. I see the joy in their eyes as they gather with God’s people. And I see the excitement in yours as you celebrate what the Lord is doing in our midst.
Because of this growth, we have had to make space. One hundred new chairs will arrive this week. They are a visible sign of God’s goodness. They represent more space for more people. More space for more stories. More space for more souls.
But growth brings tension. It is almost impossible to know everyone anymore. Yet just because you cannot know everyone does not mean you should not know someone. When Liezl and I first came to Benoni Baptist Church, we were struck by the warmth of this congregation. That warmth is a gift. And we must do all we can to preserve it.
So here is my appeal. If you are a member of Benoni Baptist Church, would you volunteer to reach out to one newcomer? Pray for them. And introduce yourself to them on a Sunday. Maybe Invite them to your home for lunch. Or share a coffee during the week. Let them feel the love of Christ in you. As we grow larger, let us grow closer. As we grow in number, let us grow in love. May we remain the warm, caring, sharing community that reflects Christ to Benoni.
