We have been informed of a scam that occurred yesterday at a retirement village in Benoni. Individuals posing as representatives of a Baptist church in Farrarmere offered gift vouchers to residents in order to gain access to the premises. After entering, they collected identification documents, photographs, and cellphone numbers. Subsequently significant sums of money were withdrawn from some residents’ bank accounts. Police and banks have been informed.
Benoni Baptist Church was not involved in this incident. Please be aware that official communication from our church comes only through recognised church channels and known church leaders. If anyone claims to represent Benoni Baptist Church, verify their identity before sharing any information or granting access. You may contact our church office directly: +27 11 425 1992, office@benonibaptistchurch.com.
We strongly urge elderly persons, as well as their families and caregivers, to exercise great caution with personal details, identification documents, banking information, and photographs. Do not allow unknown individuals access to residences or facilities without independent verification.
Please pray for the elderly victims affected by this crime. Pray for wisdom and discernment for church leaders as we respond responsibly. Pray also that those responsible will be identified and brought to justice. We remain watchful without panic, caring without fear, trusting the Lord as our refuge and shepherd.

Thank you pastor Mark for keeping us updated on what is happening
