A digest of our elders shepherding meeting, 27 August 2026

Our elders meet every second week, alternating our attention between oversight and shepherding. This past Thursday we read Scripture, prayed, and exercised oversight. In keeping with our desire to remain transparent, here is a digest of key items from our meeting.

We streamed out agenda. Several items were removed as they are being effectively managed elsewhere. Church finances, a bank card for the church office will now be handled by the finance committee. Certificates of compliance, if and when needed will be addressed under the renovation/maintenance project. The renovation project has been launched and the executive is now running with it. Any future funds would be prioritised for an aircon in the mothers’ room and an access door to the bathrooms. The remaining policy discussions, child protection and financial, will be moved to the executive meeting and finance committee respectively.

The Elders discussed Dunnottar Baptist Church at length.

It was reported that staff letters of appointment will be rewritten and a disciplinary process recommended. All staff job descriptions will need to be reviewed and rewritten. A finance committee meeting will be arranged to completed the work before the AGM in September.

The Elders clarified that the ringfenced funds for missions have already been allocated to our supported missionaries.

We discussed a sensitive point of concern.

Thank you for your ongoing prayers as we seek to shepherd the flock God has entrusted to us.
