Today we launched our Holiday Bible Club.
We welcomed 20 children into our hall. They were met by 15 dedicated leaders. Who served on kitchen duties, leading small groups, running games, and teaching. The energy was high, but our purpose was higher.
Our leaders arrived at 7:00am (it was really chilly this morning). We setup and prayed. Andre grounded us in God’s Word during our morning devotion. By 7:45am, Deirdre and Linzi were at the gates, welcoming families and registering eager faces.
At 8:30am, the hall filled with praise as Kaitlyn and Jason led the children for song time. Then Mark opened the Scriptures for our first Bible lesson from Ruth 1. We preached the text as written. But fun, as kids joined in a skit, cheering on the hero’s.
Following the lesson, the children broke into small groups. Our team leaders, Kathryn, Diego, Ethan, Liezl, Evans, Soren, and Kaitlyn, pressed the truth into their young consciences. Is God’s Word enough? Yes! So they aimed for conviction, response, and real transformation.
Truth was reinforced through action. Yvonne, Cheryl, Merl, and Cheryl served a lovely lunch of hot dogs and oranges. Nourishment for the body after nourishment for the soul.
Later, Maphike drove the energy up with outdoor games, while Deirdre and Libby led the craft rotation. Every activity was designed with intentionality. Not mere entertainment. Christ-centered fellowship. Even at a young age.
We wrapped up the day with a final meet-up in the hall for memory verse recaps. And closed in prayer. After Lita and Craig connected kids to parents, the leaders debriefed and prepped for tomorrow.
Look through the photos. See the joy. See the concentration. But see more than mere activity. See eternal souls. Jonathan will lead our team devotions for the next two days. Mark will continue to teach the gospel in Ruth. Lara and Isaac will step in to take over registration and aftercare duties.
The machinery is moving smoothly, but we do not rely on machinery. Will you bow the knee in prayer together with us for these children tonight? The seed has been sown. Pray that God gives the growth.
What a lovely sight seeing a group of teachers and children singing and dancing to God’s joyful music.
The children went home happy having learnt a message from the Bible which I am sure they will happily tell their friends all about the holiday club, when they go back to school
