“On the contrary, by their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel jealous. Now if their transgression brings riches for the world, and their failure riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their fullness bring!” (CSB)
God’s purpose runs deep. Israel’s sin did not derail His plan. It advanced it. Their transgression became the doorway through which salvation rushed to the nations. Their loss became our gain. Their rejection enriched the world.
But this is not the end. God’s purpose is restoration. Gentile salvation will one day provoke Israel to holy jealousy. Their future inclusion will bring immeasurable blessing. If their failure brought riches, what will their fullness bring? A spiritual flood. Grace upon grace.
This is God’s story. Sovereign. Wise. Unstoppable. He weaves sin and salvation into a tapestry that magnifies His mercy. We are part of that plan. Not the centre. Not the cause. Part of the overflow.
This truth reshapes pride. We do not stand as conquerors but as recipients. We look at Israel not with arrogance but with awe. We look at God with worship. His purpose humbles. His plan secures.
Application:
As you go about your tasks today, remember God’s redemptive purpose. Let it shape how you view the world, your work, your witness. Be grateful. Be humble. Be ready. Teach your children tonight that God can turn failure into blessing. Their little lives fit into His big plan.
Question for Discussion:
How does knowing God’s redemptive purpose for Israel and the nations humble your view of your place in His story?
