If you missed the special general meeting last Sunday, I want to ensure you’re kept in the loop. We had 93 members present, meaning we comfortably met our quorum. And had a wonderfully productive, unified time of planning and prayer.
Here is a quick digest of the key decisions and updates from the meeting:
Dave Somerset presented our financial report. We are incredibly thankful to report that our current finances are in a healthy position. The monthly giving fully covers our running expenses. The proposed 2027 budget (which includes a 9.3% annual and monthly increase) was unanimously approved by a show of hands. We will share a list of the missionaries we support to serve as an encouragement to the body.
We have been praying about expanding our team to help share the ministry workload. We are thrilled to announce that two part-time pastoral assistant appointments were approved by ballot vote. Lance Long has been appointed as pastoral assistant for youth and young adults (75 yes, 7 no, 1 abstention). Evans Odhiambo has been appointed as pastoral assistant for visitation (81 yes, 5 no, 1 abstention). Please keep both Lance and Evans in your prayers as they step into these vital roles to care for and equip our church community.
During power outages, we have relied heavily on a generator. And our current church batteries have reached the end of their life cycle. We want to give public thanks to the Lord and to an anonymous donor who generously gifted the church a new inverter. To leverage this, we will purchase a new battery for the house and move the house’s current battery to the church system. Given our healthy capital reserves, the congregation also overwhelmingly approved an amendment to purchase solar panels at the same time to help reduce our long-term municipal electricity costs.
Thank you to everyone who attended, asked thoughtful questions, and praised God for His faithful provision. Please mark your calendars for our annual general meeting on Sunday, 20 September, which will take place right after the morning service.
