We have crossed the midpoint of our Holiday Bible Club.
Day 2 saw more kids, return with more energy, young friendships, and growing eagerness. Our leaders stepped up into their roles with a urgency (even while a little fatigue). We do not rely on our own strength, but on our living God.
Leaders arrived again at 7:00am to prepare their hearts. Jonathan led our morning devotion. By 7:45am, Deierdre and Libby were at the desks, welcoming the children for registration and play time.
Today, we adjusted our rhythm. We moved from registration into our games and crafts. Maphike ran the outdoor games, while Deirdre and Libby managed the craft room. These activities are not mere time-fillers. They build the community where truth can take root.
At 9:45am, our kitchen team served lunch. We are deeply grateful for Yvonne, Cheryl, Merl, and Cheryl who quietly sustain the work in the background. Speaking of background, today we made full use of the Minecraft themed Ruth and Boaz story. With a big shout out to Gill and Karl for the creativity.
At 10:45am, the atmosphere shifted from recreation to reverence. Mark opened the Scriptures for the Bible lesson. We do not flatten difficult texts, even for young minds. We preach the text as written. Ruth presented Ruth, the love interest. And Boaz, the mighty redeemer. And their mutual faithfulness to Yahweh, who providentially cares. Christ was held high as the revealed centre of all Scripture.
Following the lesson, the children broke into their colour groups for Lesson Engagement Time. Blue Team: Kathryn and Diego, Green Team: Ethan and Liezl, Red Team: Evans and Kaitlyn. With Soren and Jason assisting small groups and sound. Our leaders did not settle for vague encouragement. They aimed for conviction. They asked questions that demand a response. Is Christ Lord? Will you bow the knee?
We closed our formal program in the hall at 11:45am with final songs, memory verse recaps, and prayer. And then dismissed to aftercare with Lita and Craig (which involved a lot of energy spent on the jumping castle). While the leaders debriefed.
The photos below tell a story of joy. These children are growing up in a broken world. Some are drifting. All need Christ. Tomorrow is our final day. We expect more kids, and we want them to know that God’s Word is enough. Please pray for our final day. Pray that the sudden turn of the gospel breaks through hard hearts. Not effort. Not performance. Grace alone.
