A quick personal update. I was admitted to hospital on Friday and had surgery on Sunday morning. I was discharged by Monday lunchtime. From what I understand, the surgeon is happy that everything is where it should be. I’m not going to run the Comrades this year. But I should be walking without a crutch in a few weeks.
Because of my absence, the elders decided to postpone our quarterly general meeting. We will now meet on Sunday, 1 June, after the morning service. I hope you’ll make every effort to be there. There is so much I want to share:
- How we are growing.
- A possible pastoral call.
- Possibilities for a second service.
- A new Sunday school ministry lead.
- Updates to our constitution.
- A possible partnership with another church in Ekurhuleni.
- And a ministry-minded budget for 2025–2026.

This Sunday is our evening service. The elders have asked me to teach from Matthew 18:15–20 on the process of church discipline. On Sunday, 1 June, I will follow up with Galatians 6:1–5, which focuses on the heart behind church discipline. I know these are weighty passages. But they are important for us to grasp as a community. But they are for our good. I hope many of you will join us in the evening so we can grow together and put down strong roots in this area.
Also, don’t forget our Ascension Day service on Thursday, 29 May at 7:00pm. This is a time of celebration. We’re expecting a big crowd and would love you to stay for fellowship afterward. Please bring a plate of finger snacks or cookies to share.
I’m grateful for your prayers and support this past week. I love serving this church. And I’m excited about what the Lord is doing among us.
