Our quarterly general meeting is next Sunday, 1 June, after the morning service. Member attendance is expected. Visitors are welcome to look in and see how we conduct ourselves. These meetings are important. They help us walk together in unity. And make decisions together as a body. Here’s what you can expect:
I will open the meeting with a short welcome. Robert Burge, our church secretary, will confirm that we have a quorum. Normally, about 80% of our 153 members attend these meetings. Robert will table the previous minutes, which were emailed to members. And we will ask for approval by a show of hands. There are two matters arising. First, an update on our church secretary. Colleen will retire at the end of June. Kaitlyn has been appointed and will start at the beginning of June. Second, an update on our constitutional revisions. We are ready to share the proposed amendments concerning the role of deacons. Robert will then mention changes to our membership roll: 1 removal, 15 additions, and 4 movements to our country roll.
After that, I will share a pastoral report. I’ll look back at the growth we’ve seen over the past year. And then focus forward. I will speak about a possible pastoral call. The growing need for a second service. And a unique opportunity at Dunnottar Baptist Church, which Andre Broodryk will explain.
David Somerset will present the treasurer’s report. This will be a joyful moment. The report gives testimony to God’s continued provision. And our plans to steward our resources well in 2025-2026. He will table the budget for approval by a show of hands.
We will ask the church to affirm Debra Green as the new lead for our Sunday school ministry by show of hands. Finally, we will speak to a matter of church discipline. This is always sad, but it is necessary for the health of the body. After this, I will close the meeting in prayer.
Please come. Your presence encourages others. Your participation strengthens the church. Your prayers support the work God is doing among us.
