Grafted by Grace

Monday 6 October

“I ask, then, have they stumbled so as to fall? Absolutely not! On the contrary, by their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel jealous.” (CSB)

Israel stumbled. But not beyond recovery. Their sin did not end God’s plan. It advanced it. By their rejection, the door swung open. Gentiles were brought in. Outsiders became recipients of grace. God’s strategy turned failure into salvation. This is no accident. No Plan B. It is sovereign design.

Picture it. A wild branch. Rough. Untamed. Grafted into a cultivated olive tree. It draws sap from a root it did not plant. Life flows where death once ruled. That is you. That is me. We are grafted in by grace.

This truth humbles. You are not the root. You are the branch. You exist inside a story far older than you. Far larger than your life. God’s plan stretches from patriarchs to nations. From Israel’s stumbling to the nations’ salvation. From history to your heart.

Begin your week here. Remember who planted the tree. Remember who grafted you in. Boast not in your branch. Boast in the Root.

Application:
Pause before work. Thank God that salvation came to you through His sovereign plan. Reframe your day through this lens. You are a recipient, not the architect. Share the olive tree image with your children tonight. Let them see that their faith stands on roots they did not plant.

Question for Discussion:
Where have you begun to live as though your faith story starts and ends with you?
