God has given Benoni Baptist Church growth. I looked across our main hall this Sunday and saw a changed landscape. Many of you have joined our community in the past two years. Others have anchored this work for decades. But growth brings a specific pastoral challenge. How do we remain one body? How do we ensure that the old and the new truly know one another?
True fellowship is not accidental. It is not automatic. It requires intent.
This month, we face a slight change to our rhythm. Holiday Bible Club occupies our calendar this coming week. Therefore, we will not take communion on the first Sunday of July. We will gather at the Lord’s Table on the second Sunday, 12 July.
We will also handle the morning differently.
Our time will begin with the standard morning service. I will preach from 1 Corinthians 11. In that text, Paul confronts a church that fractured during the love feast. He warns them against eating without discerning the body. The table is a corporate reality. We cannot love Christ while ignoring His people.
Following the word, we will move to a bring and share lunch in the fellowship hall. And then after we have had lunch together, we will transition into the communion service.
Cross the room. Do not sit only with familiar friends. Seek out someone who has arrived recently. And if you are new, stay. Sit at a table. Let us get to know you.
Come ready to hear the word, ready to share a meal, and ready to remember our Lord.
