One last change before Sunday

It’s been a big week at Benoni Baptist Church. I’ve sent out messages about Holiday Bible Club. Plans to accomodate more children. Changes to communion this month. And I posted photos of the painting of our main hall, and installation of our solar system to our WhatsApp channel. But, there’s one more change before Sunday.

I’m sure you all noticed how full we were this past Sunday. Exciting times. As expected, when our seats are full, our parking space is over subscribed. Ian confirmed, this past Sunday we had 250 people in the building, 108 cars parked on the property, and 9 cars parked outside.

Sharon has suggested 2 ways we can alleviate some of our parking problems:

First phase, if we keep Main Gate 2 on Wordsworth Road closed (see image 1), remove, and re-bed, all the plants against the green fence (see image 2), and in time pave those beds. We could fit in an additional 13 parking bays (see yellow bays marked on map 1). I think that’s a great idea. I’ve checked in with Kyle who oversees parking, and he’s OK with the plan too. To that end we’ve cleared the beds and had the parking bays painted.

Second phase, if we remove the bed near the office (see image 3), grass the area, remove the stone braai, and a couple of trees and shrubs. We may be able to fit in an additional 11 vehicles (see yellow bays marked on map 2). Again, I think that’s a great idea. And again, I’ve checked in with Kyle, and he’s OK with the plan too.

Both Sharon and Kyle have pointed out the added benefit of a fixed traffic route around the property on a Sunday (see yellow pointers marked on map 3).

This Sunday please do be aware of the changes, and smile and say thank you to the parking team who’ll try and keep everything running smoothly.

I’d value any comments or concerns you may have.

    1. Thanks for the encouragement Edna. It’s really great to see how many people are involved in what the Lord is doing at Benoni Baptist Church.
