The Interceding Saviour

11 April 2025

“Yet he bore the sin of many and interceded for the rebels” (Isaiah 53:12, CSB). Mark Penrith brought us to the final note of the Servant’s work. Not only sacrifice. Not only victory. Ongoing intercession. He said, “He does not only bear sin. He intercedes for the rebels.” This is present tense grace. The Servant who died now speaks. The Servant who rose now pleads. He stands for His people before the Father.

Mark made it personal. “He bore the sin of many.” Not abstract. Not general. Actual sin. Actual people. “He actually pays for actual people.” Then he added, “Every rebel He intercedes for will come.” This is not uncertain hope. This is effective salvation. The same Saviour who carried your sin now carries your name before the Father. He does not forget. He does not fail. He intercedes.

This changes how you respond to failure. Your instinct is to withdraw. To hide. To delay. But hear the truth. “He intercedes for the rebels.” Not for the strong. Not for the perfect. For rebels. So when you sin, do not run away. Run to Him. Mark said, “Do not run. Do not hide.” Come quickly. Confess plainly. Rise again. Continue forward. Christ is not against you. He speaks for you.

Let this shape your home. Pray aloud. Let your family hear dependence. Not polished words. Honest need. Point them to Christ as mediator. Mark reminded us, “He intercedes for the rebels.” Your children need to hear that you rely on Him. Not on your strength. Not on your performance. On Christ alone. This forms a culture of grace in your home.

Now answer honestly. When you sin, do you run from Christ, or to Him? The text is clear. “He interceded for the rebels.” That includes you. The door is open. The Saviour speaks. The invitation stands. Come.

Lord Jesus, thank You that You intercede for me. When I fail, draw me back quickly. Teach me to run to You, not from You. Keep me near through Your grace. Amen.
