Friday, 11 July’s devotional.
“And those he predestined, he also called; and those he called, he also justified; and those he justified, he also glorified.”
Some mornings, your confidence feels fragile. Your prayers are weak, your heart is anxious, and your circumstances are swirling. But in Romans 8:30, God gives you something solid. This verse reveals what Mark called “an unbreakable chain of grace.” It begins before time and stretches into eternity, linking every moment of your salvation to the steadfast will of God.
Paul writes, “And those he predestined, he also called; and those he called, he also justified; and those he justified, he also glorified” (CSB). This isn’t a theory. It is a settled reality. Mark explained, “I want to show you that this passage is a chain. It starts with fornowledge… and then it goes to predestined… then called… then justified… then glorified.” What’s remarkable is that “no one drops off the list.”
That means you are not dangling by a thread. God does not begin your salvation and then leave you to finish it. Mark said, “Your salvation from eternity past to eternity future is his sovereign work.” And because each step flows from His will, “your future glory is as certain as Christ’s resurrection.”
When fear creeps in—about your failures, your children’s future, or the state of your heart—pray through this chain. Remind yourself: “You chose me. You called me. You justified me. You will glorify me.” These aren’t uncertain steps. Each one is secured by divine initiative and completed by divine power.
Even the final link, glorification, is described in the past tense. Paul writes, “he also glorified.” Mark explained, “Paul doesn’t say those whom he justified might be glorified… he uses the exact same tense.” That means your glorification is as sure as your calling. As sure as your justification. As sure as the God who planned it.
So, believer, take heart. If you feel like your grip is slipping, remember—God’s hold on you never does.
When anxiety creeps in, take a minute to pray through this golden chain: “You chose me. You called me. You justified me. You will glorify me.”
Teach your kids a “glory chain” chant—fun, short, and memorable: “God chose me! He calls me! He saves me! He’ll finish it!”
Which link in God’s salvation chain strengthens you most today—and why?
Father, thank You for securing every step of my salvation. Help me rest in the chain You forged and finished. Amen.
