The Victorious King

10 April 2025

“Therefore I will give him the many as a portion, and he will receive the mighty as spoil” (Isaiah 53:12, CSB). Mark Penrith took us from the cross to the battlefield. He said, “This is Victor’s language. A king defeats his enemy. Then he takes the spoil.” The Servant is not defeated by death. He conquers through it. He does not lose His life. He lays it down and takes it up again. The cross is not the end. It is the victory.

Mark pressed this truth with clarity. “The Servant does not just survive the crushing. He conquers it.” He walks through death and comes out the other side victorious. He receives the many as His portion. The nations as His reward. “He marches through death. He emerges on the other side with His hand on the treasure.” This is not fragile hope. This is certain triumph. The Servant wins. The outcome is secure.

This changes how you live today. You do not wake up to fight for victory. You wake up in victory. Mark made it plain. “The crushing leads to spoil. The substitute wins. The many are His.” So walk into your workplace with this settled. Christ has already won. You are not striving for approval. You are not fighting for acceptance. You stand in a finished victory. Let that give you courage. Let that shape your witness. Speak clearly. Live boldly. Not because you are strong, but because He has conquered.

Bring this into your home. Your children live in a fearful world. Uncertainty surrounds them. Teach them this truth. Jesus wins. Not maybe. Not eventually. Certainly. Mark said, “He claims the treasure. He divides the plunder.” That includes His people. That includes you. Let your children see confidence in Christ. Not arrogance. Not fear. Confidence. The King has won.

Now answer honestly. Are you living as if Christ has already won? Or are you still acting as if the outcome is uncertain? Hear the text again. “He will receive the mighty as spoil.” The victory is not pending. It is accomplished. The Servant reigns.

Lord, help me to live in the reality of Christ’s victory. Give me courage in my work and clarity in my witness. Fix my eyes on the conquering King. Amen.
